Turns out, from JFK or LaGuardia Bermuda is only a two hour flight away and there are a lot of direct flights. Cue the kids being away at camp and Bermuda is a perfect solution for a quick weekend away with your hubby.
We stayed at the Rosewood Hotel: Tucker’s Point and it was the perfect spot to for a quick weekend to unplug and still feel like you were tucked away in the Caribbean.
With restaurants and plenty of activities, we stayed relaxed on site before venturing around the island.
The first night we dined at Rosewood’s Sur Mer restaurant which describes itself as:
A “casual atmosphere and simple yet sophisticated menu, the Beach Club offers seasonal al fresco dining with a dramatic ocean view at Sur Mer. Diners enjoy an exquisite menu of freshly prepared dishes featuring the local Fruit de Mer, prepared with inspiration and flavors evoking the Provençal region of France. The menu includes classic bistro items such as Cassoulet and Duck Confit, as well as dishes showcasing fresh local seafood such as La Nôtre Bouillabaisse and Cod Meuniére. With seating just steps away from the sand and views of the Atlantic Ocean, Sur Mer is the premier beachfront dining experience in Bermuda.”
And it was, doesn’t get much better than dining next to the ocean with sand in your flip flops. Up next, Mickey’s Beach Bistro.
Hard to believe it’s only two hours from JFK.
How to Pack
Bermuda tends to be on the preppy side, now I like a little preppy for a guy not so much for me….so I of course had to stay true to me! I packed a mix of classic, edgy and always with comfort in mind.
Even though the weather is hot in Bermuda the restaurants are cold due to the A/C….so you can throw on your favorite light summer blazer over anything. A self proclaimed blazer geek…A great blazer is a closet staple and not just one but a few for every occasion! The classic blazer tends to be preppy but not the blazers I am going to show you…Wear this striped blazer with the matching short for a uniformed tailored look or pair the blazer with anything from:
Or my classic go-to shorts that come in every color:
To run around the island during the day:
And for dinner at night:
As I have become more seasoned (meaning getting older) I found myself hating to wear the standard high heel sandal….so imagine how happy I was when wedges with a variety of heights become popular. I discovered this brand a few years ago and it is my favorite for all my summer shoes.
“You go to heaven if you want to, I’d rather stay right here in Bermuda” – Mark Twain
Bermuda is not to be underestimated. Quick flight, beautiful beaches and yummy food. Grab your overnight bag, versatile separates and your sunnies and get to scooting around the island.
